What if you found out that your existence is just like a dream?
Let me ask:
What is a dream?
A world experienced by the mind that feels real while we are in it.
So perhaps the deeper question is:
Is reality itself a dream?
First, what is reality?
Is it the past?
No. The past has already happened.
Is it the future?
No. The future has not happened.
The only reality we can directly encounter is
what is happening now.
But what happens in that moment?
A friend doesn’t wave at you.
A boss doesn’t praise you, but praises your colleague.
That is what happened.
But almost immediately,
the mind begins creating another reality:
Why didn’t they wave?
Did I do something wrong?
Am I out of favor
Why did they praise her and not me?
The moment itself has already moved on.
But you are still there.
Not physically,
but psychologically.
You are replaying the past
or imagining the future.
The mind has created a world that isn’t actually happening,
and you are living inside it.
If you are living inside a mental simulation
instead of the unfolding present:
Are you living?
Or are you dreaming?
